Le Diplôme d'études en langue française - DELF - a été officiellement modifié en septembre 2005. Il existe quatre DELF Junior - ou scolaire - destinés aux adolescents DELF A1, DELF A2, DELF B1, DELF B2. Les mentions A1, A2, B1, B2 correspondent aux échelles de niveau du Cadre Européen Commun de Référence. Cet ouvrage correspond au DELF B1 Junior - ou scolaire. Les activités d'entraînement proposées sont destinées à un public d'adolescents en contexte scolaire ou non. Elles offrent un équilibre entre l'activité de compréhension et celle de production, à l'oral comme à l'écrit. Le niveau B1 évalue une compétence d'utilisateur dit "indépendant" et correspond au niveau "seuil". Le locuteur peut poursuivre une conversation en langue standard, assez longue, sur le plan personnel. Il peut donner son avis, demander l'opinion de son interlocuteur, prendre des initiatives et affronter toutes les situations de la vie quotidienne, faire une réclamation ou encore résoudre un conflit sur un aspect pratique de la vie courante.
